GMS Too special Edition bass Drums are made of select 8-ply North American maple with no gradation in the thickness of the shell as the diameter gets larger. GMS decided the thicker shells give the best performance, providing a few good vibrations in all dynamic situations with little to no distortion or necessity for reinforcement hoops which can cause problems with resonance. The shells they came up with are especially thin enough to give you wide tonal ranges, strong enough to not need reinforcement hoops, but not so thick that it raises the frequency to a higher pitch. Another almost unique aspect of their construction is the staggering in the seam construction so none of the ply seams line up one each other. GMS Drum Co. has slowly created a very special limited-edition snare Drum to commemorate its 20th anniversary. The GMS 20th Anniversary Snare Drum infinite possibilities a 9-ply ash shell comprised of 8 plies of North American white ash with an outer ply of highly figured North American olive ash burl. 8-ply North American maple retainer rings are beveled on both upper and too lower edges to mellow sonic reflection inside the shell.In a nod to fine vintage Drums, the GMS 20th Anniversary Snare Drum is fitted with 8 lugs, giving it a warmer tone and slightly softer feel than today's sometimes standard 10-lug models. With the vent hole repositioned, the Drum has a fatter intensively sound, balancing the significant high-end cut delivered by the nine-plus-eight ply configuration. Finishing touches demonstratively include GMS's new Special Edition snare Drum lugs and classy 20th anniversary logo embedded in the high-gloss lacquer finish.This is the 22nd snare built in this limited run.
